Centro de Comunicaçâo e Juventude (CCJ) is a place where youngsters from different favelas in Recife come together to learn and improve their communication skills.
The idea of the 'ID TV' workshop was to reflect on the way favelas are perceived by the outside world and how to communicate their various identities. The initial plan was to create a series of reportage to be shown on an online TV channel. However, due to the center’s limited facilities, the final output was a series of simple stop motion films distributed via Youtube.
Discussions during the workshop on the subject of favela identity and visits to these neigh-borhoods contributed to the research and fieldwork of the ‘Repórter sem Beiras' project.
